Rep. Dan Crenshaw (R-Texas) has become the latest Republican to attack Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) over her plan to recall House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.).

“She needs her time in the spotlight, you know, and it’s been a while, and I think it’s a last-ditch effort to get attention, that’s what she’s looking for,” Crenshaw told Fox News’ Neil Cavuto during her appearance. on Saturday on the network.

Crenshaw said there is not “much” support for Greene’s plan to remove Johnson and that a “strong majority” would vote to table her motion to vacate that she introduced in March.

“It’s based on what exactly – that Mike Johnson brought bills to the floor that were necessary for national security and that the vast majority of members wanted to vote on?” Crenshaw said. “Thus allowing the democratic process to advance. Our process that we have in our constitution to move forward is apparently the crime of the century, according to these people.”

Greene’s push was endorsed by two other House members, Reps. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.) and Paul Gosar (R-Ariz.), and is expected to reach the floor next week.

“Marjorie Taylor Greene never attempted to come up with a plan to secure the borders along with the supplemental package,” Crenshaw said. “Tom Massie never did anything like that. She never wrote legislation on asylum reform, or anything related to border security, and many of us did.”

The Texas lawmaker said “they make it impossible” for the conference to have influence in the lower chamber when trying to pass legislation and when Republicans fail to secure the desired deal, Johnson is blamed.

“It’s a game and voters have to stop falling for it,” Crenshaw said Saturday.

Some hard-line House Republicans are unhappy with Johnson’s bipartisan deal, but they did not support the resolution to strip Johnson of his gavel. House Democrats said they would help save Johnson after the House speaker put Ukraine aid on the floor, which passed with bipartisan support.

In the upper chamber, conservatives in the Senate also denounced Greene’s effort, arguing that Congress has more important priorities and that Johnson is doing “the best he can” given his slim majority in the Chamber.

“This is the game they play and every day I ask voters to stop falling for it,” Crenshaw said. “There is an appearance of struggle here. It’s an appearance, it’s nothing else, they’re not fighting over you. They are fighting for your attention and that is a very different thing.”
