Senator John Fetterman says the wild and chaotic scene inside a House Oversight Committee hearing Thursday night, which featured lawmakers hurling various appearance-related insults at each other, was worse than an episode of “ The Jerry Springer Show.”

“In the past, I have described the U.S. House as ‘The Jerry Springer Show,’” said the Pennsylvania Democratin a Friday postin X.

“Today, I’m apologizing to ‘The Jerry Springer Show,’” Fetterman said.

His comparison to the sensational, typically quarrelsome and expletive-filled talk show of the 1990s came a day after an epic confrontation during Thursday night’s House Oversight Committee hearing.

During the hearing, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) accused Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-Texas) of sporting “false eyelashes.”

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (DN.Y.) moved to take back Greene’s words, calling them “disgusting” and “absolutely unacceptable.”

Later in the hearing, Crockett appeared to take a veiled jab at Greene, saying, “If anyone on this committee starts talking about someone’s poorly constructed, bleached-blonde body, that wouldn’t be character engagement, right?”

It’s not the first time a political fight has drawn comparisons to “The Jerry Springer Show.”

Springer himself criticized a 2020 presidential debate between Joe Biden and then-President Trump. During the heated confrontation, Trump repeatedly tried to interrupt the then-Democratic presidential candidate.

“Several years ago, TV Guide honored me by naming ‘The Jerry Springer Show’ the worst show in television history,” Springer told ITK at the time. “After watching Tuesday night’s debate, the torch has already been passed.”

“The Jerry Springer Show” aired from 1991 to 2018.

Springer died last year at age 79.
