Rep. Jasmine Crockett may soon claim ownership of the blow she delivered to Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) in an epic confrontation during a House Oversight Committee hearing last week, with the Texas Democrat’s campaign going on the record a trademark application for the phrase.
A request for a “poorly constructed blonde beach body” was filed by Crockett’s campaign on Sunday with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. USA today was first to report news of the trademark filing on Tuesday.
According to the app, the phrase is intended to be used on a variety of apparel and accessory items, including hats, hoodies, socks, t-shirts and more.
The move comes after the 43-year-old lawmaker launched what she dubbed the “Crockett Clapback Collection” last week, which included a T-shirt with the same alliterative slur she used during her contentious exchange with Greene.
“I think your false eyelashes are getting in the way of what you’re reading,” Greene told Crockett during the overnight Oversight Committee hearing.
Later in the hearing, Crockett asked what he described as a hypothetical question about what might violate Congressional protocol.
“I’m just curious, just to better understand his decision,” Crockett said, referring to a decision made by Speaker James Comer (R-Ky.).
“If someone on this committee starts talking about someone’s blond, poorly built body, that wouldn’t be engaging in personalities, right?” Crockett said, in a thinly veiled barb directed at Greene.
Crockett’s office and a campaign representative did not respond to ITK’s request for comment on any trademark plans.
Greene defended her physique in a video posted to social media on Monday, saying, “Yes, my body is built and strong, NOT through pinching, tucking, plastic or silicone, but through a healthy lifestyle.”
