Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-Texas) signaled Friday that several of her Republican colleagues have shown their approval of her response to her spat with Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) last week, even giving her a “thumbs up”.

Asked by MSNBC host Joy Reid about the fight and what it’s like working alongside Greene, Crockett said it’s “completely unproductive.”

“Listen, she is showing the world who she is and the fact that Republicans continue to cover her, that also tells us who they are,” she said. in an interview Friday on “The ReidOut.” “Now, they want to dissociate themselves from her, but in reality, when you don’t check in on her, you’re basically complicit in the things she does.”

“I will tell you I got winks and positive comments from the other side. Some of them I like their eyelashes, like, listen, no one comes to your defense,” she added later in the interview. “And they’re all patting me on the back.”

The exchange was related to a House Oversight Committee hearing last week that descended into chaos after Greene accused Crockett of using “false eyelashes.” The comment was criticized by many on the left for its racial connotations, and Crockett reignited that argument on Friday.

“It didn’t seem like my colleague understood that someone could be diverse and qualified,” she told Reid. “And that’s why there are people like me who get very frustrated, not just in the halls of Congress, but in general in this country.”

Greene’s remark led to a detour over whether the comment should be removed from the record. Later in the proceedings, Crockett asked the leaders what rhetoric would be considered a violation of Congressional protocol.

“If someone on this committee starts talking about someone’s blond, poorly built body, that wouldn’t be engaging in personalities, right?” Crockett said, likely a jab at the fiery Georgia Republican.

Since then, the Texas Democrat has started to trademark the term “bleached blonde, poorly built body” and raised funds on the stock exchange by selling merchandise. In response to the mockery, Greene posted a workout video online, defending his “built and strong” physique.

“Yes, my body is built and strong, NOT through pinching, bending, plastic or silicone, but through a healthy lifestyle,” the 49-year-old lawmakerwrote Monday on social media platform X.
