Bickering among lawmakers and made-for-TV moments from House hearings have nothing to do with Congress’s newest lovable viral star: Rep. John Rose’s 6-year-old son.
The Tennessee Republican’s kindergarten graduate won over politically addicted fans and C-SPAN devotees with a tongue-in-cheek display as his father delivered commentary from the floor.
Rose’s son Guy can be seen muggingfor the camerason Monday, as the congressman condemned last week’s conviction of former President Trump in New York’s silent trial.
While Rose railed against a “politically motivated accusation,” Guy was smiling broadly for the cameras.
At another time, as his father said: “Regardless of your opinion of the current Republican candidate, we would do well to remember the long and cherished tradition we have in this country of resolving our political differences at the ballot box.” Guy rolled his eyes dramatically and stuck out his tongue.
Other times, as his father spoke, Guy looked ready for the close-up, swaying and making silly shapes with his hands.
“That’s what I get for telling my son Guy to smile for the camera for his little brother,” Rose joked on social platform.
ITK hears that Guy is at the Capitol after wrapping up his kindergarten school year.
And good news for those who can’t get enough of Guy: the young man will be accompanying his father to Congress all week, while Rose plans to give his wife a little help with childcare. The congressman’s wife, Chelsea, works full-time and is at home in Tennessee with the couple’s 3-year-old son, Sam.
