Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.) posted pride online after Rep. Jamaal Bowman (DN.Y.) lost his re-election bid.
“I will miss our informal conversations in the hallways,” Massie posted on social media platform X.
Massie was mocking Bowman, who lost Tuesday night to George Latimer in the New York Democratic primary.th Congressional District.
In his post, Massie included a video of Bowman and him in a 2023 shouting match over gun control. The exchange followed a shooting that killed three children and three adults at a Christian school in Nashville.
The discussion took place after lawmakers left the House for votes. Bowman, a former high school principal, began telling the press that his Republican coworkers were cowards for not being willing to pass gun restriction legislation.
Massie, who is part of the Second Amendment Caucus, came out to confront Bowman about the issue.
After winning his House seat in 2020, Bowman became a member of the “Squad,” a group of some of the most progressive Democrats in the lower chamber. Bowman’s defeat makes him the first incumbent House Democrat to lose a primary contest this election cycle.
His race against Latimer became divisive for the Democratic Party and was one of the most expensive House primaries in history, with millions of dollars being raised.
The Hill has reached out to Bowman’s office for comment.
