Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said “political violence of any kind has no place in our society” after apparent shots were fired at former President Trump’s rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, on Saturday.
“As someone whose family has been a victim of political violence, I know firsthand that political violence of any kind has no place in our society,” Pelosi said in a statement. post on Xreferring to the attack on her husband, Paul Pelosi, in their San Francisco home two years ago.
“I thank God that former President Trump is safe,” Pelosi said. “As we learn more details about this horrific incident, let us pray that everyone present at the former president’s rally today emerges unharmed.”
Trump was seen with blood on the side of his face, near his ear, as Secret Service agents crowded around him on stage.
A Trump campaign spokesperson said the former president is “doing well” and is being treated at a local medical center.
