A new memoir written by former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) will be available later this year, according to publisher Simon & Schuster.
In the bookTitled “The Art of Power,” Pelosi details her years in public service, the legislation she helped enact as Speaker of the House, and her personal account of the January 6, 2021 attack on the Capitol and her working relationship with the former President Trump, among other stories.
The memoir will be available on August 6, according to the publisher.
The woman who was praised by her opposition as ‘the most powerful speaker’ ever shows us why she’s not afraid of a good fight,” Simon & Schuster said in the announcement, shared with The Hill. “’The Art of Power’ is about the fighting spirit that always animated her and the historical legacy that spirit produced.”

Pelosi, 84, resigned as leader last year after leading Democrats in the lower house for two decades. The move came after Republicans won a majority in the 2022 midterm elections.
She was first elected to the House in 1986 and quickly rose through the ranks, becoming minority leader in 2003 and eventually speaker of the House in 2007. The California Democrat was the first woman to hold the coveted position.
The California Democrat held the gavel until 2011, when Republicans took control of the House. But in 2019, when Democrats regained the majority, she was once again sworn in as speaker of the House.
“People always ask me how I did what I did in the House,” Pelosi said, according to the ad. “In ‘The Art of Power,’ I reveal how – and, more importantly, why.”
Pelosi published her first book, “Know Your Power,” in 2008 and was written to inspire young women to follow their dreams.
In her new memoir, the former House speaker also shares a personal account of a 2022 incident when a man broke into her California home and attacked her husband, Paul Pelosi, with a hammer.
