Security near former President Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate in Palm Beach, Florida, is being tightened following a recent assassination attempt, according to an alert from the city.
“On Saturday, July 20, 2024, due to enhanced security measures involving Mar a Lago and persons protected by the U.S. Secret Service, South Ocean Boulevard will be closed to traffic beginning at approximately 4 p.m.,” Palm Beach said. in the alert on your website Thursday.
“This closure will be in effect 24/7 until the November general election at the earliest. It will involve the area from Woodbridge Road to South Ocean Boulevard, at the roundabout where Southern Boulevard and South Ocean Boulevard connect,” the alert continued.
In a statement emailed to The Hill, a U.S. Secret Service spokesperson said: “The safety of our protectees is the U.S. Secret Service’s top priority.
“Out of concern for operational security, the Secret Service does not discuss the means and methods used for our protective operations,” the spokesperson continued.
Trump faced an assassination attempt on him at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, last weekend. A bullet grazed the former president’s ear during the shooting, and he was recently seen with a bandage on his ear.
“We have been providing security with the Secret Service at all times,” Palm Beach County Sheriff Ric Bradshaw said Thursday.
