George Will, a conservative columnist for The Washington Post, attacked House Republicans who recently voted against further aid to Ukraine in an op-ed published Wednesday in the Post.

In opinionhighlighted by Mediaite, Will said the 112 House Republicans who voted against aid to Ukraine “voted last Saturday to endanger civilization,” calling them “ignoble.”

“Hoping to increase their political security in their mostly safe seats, and for the childish satisfaction of populist malice (insulting a mostly fictitious ‘establishment’), they voted to secure [Russian President Vladimir Putin’s] attempt to erase a European nation,” Will wrote in his column.

Opponents of more aid to Ukraine included far-right radicals like Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.), who went after House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) for his support of the bill, calling him that of “traitor” after the lower house passed him by.

“Johnson once again passed a bill with the help of Democrats, while the Republican majority voted against it,” Greene said in a post on social platform X. “Mike Johnson is not just a traitor to our conference, he is a traitor to our country.”

Will also questioned “how many” of the House Republicans who voted against aid to Ukraine “know or care that more than half of the $61 billion will finance the replenishment of U.S. munitions stocks as well as U.S. weapons purchases.” USA for Ukraine?”

President Biden on Wednesday signed a $95 billion emergency foreign aid package that included aid to Ukraine and Israel in their ongoing wars. The president also criticized “MAGA Republicans” for the difficult path he took to send aid to Ukraine.

“For my table, it was a difficult road. It should have been easier and I should have gotten there sooner. But in the end, we did what America always does; we rose to the moment, we came together and we did it,” Biden said after signing the legislation.

“For months, while MAGA Republicans blocked aid, Ukraine was running out of artillery shells and ammunition. In the meantime, Putin’s friends keep him well supplied,” he added, calling out Iran, North Korea and China for helping Russia intensify airstrikes.
