The Trump years brought with them the rise of a nearly unrecognizable Republican Party, steeped in a reactive populism that even McConnell himself would have difficulty controlling.”

The book should hit stores at the end of October.
The 82-year-old McConnell, the party’s longest-serving Senate leader in history, announced in a speech on the Senate floor in February that he would step down from his leadership role in November, after the election.
