Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) has endorsed Rep. Jamaal Bowman (DN.Y.) amid the contentious primary he faces to retain his seat, Bowman’s campaign announced in a press release.

“Business interests are spending millions against Congressman Jamaal Bowman because he is fighting hard to deliver good jobs, quality education, Medicare for All and a Green New Deal,” Warren said in the statement.

The race between Bowman and Westchester County Executive George Latimer for the Democratic nomination for New York’s 16th Congressional District created a rift among New York’s progressive Democrats after former Rep. Mondaire Jones (DN.Y.) endorsed Bowman’s opponent.

“Together, we work with President Biden to protect renters and have plans to lower housing costs, and I look forward to continuing the partnership, shoulder to shoulder, to stand up to MAGA extremists and help working families,” Warren continued in the release.

Bowman said he is “proud to call Senator Warren a partner in our progressive vision,” according to the statement.

“She knows firsthand how to fight the billionaire class, and I’m proud to have Senator Warren on our side,” Bowman continued. “Together, we are united in our mission to build a brighter, more equitable future for all, where workers’ needs are raised and companies are held accountable.”

Bowman also received a boost from United Auto Workers (UAW) President Shawn Fain on Wednesday.

“The @UAW fights for economic justice from the negotiating table to the ballot box,” Fain said in a post on social platform X. “We need leaders like @JamaalBowmanNY who will fight to make the rich pay their fair share! We cannot continue to elect people who are too afraid to face billionaires.”

The Hill reached out to Latimer’s campaign.
