Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) said Friday that President Biden’s campaign is “a toast” after losing the media.
“Democrats have a real problem, any Democrat has a real problem — if you lose the media, and Biden lost the media, overnight, after this debate,” Johnson said. he said on Fox News’ “Jesse Watters Primetime” to host Will Cain. “It’s very difficult because Democrats can lie, they can enact policies that are disastrous for this country, but as long as the media is on their side to cover them up, they can survive.
“The minute they lose the media, they’re really toast,” Johnson continued.
Biden has faced just over a week of anxiety among Democrats after a shaky debate performance last Thursday. Biden sounded hoarse and stumbled over his words during the CNN debate, sparking questions among Democrats about whether he should remain the party’s nominee.
“He has the nomination, he has the votes,” Johnson said in his appearance about Biden on Fox News. “It will be difficult to replace him, again, if he wants to stay there.”
When it came to the question of whether he could be convinced to leave the presidential race, Biden said in an interview on ABC on Friday that “if the Lord Almighty came down and said, ‘Joe, get out of the race,’ I would get out of the race. The Lord Almighty will not come down.”
Biden and his allies have insisted he will not give up, even as four House Democrats now call on him to drop out of the race. In a fundraising email sent earlier this week, Biden said no one is “kicking him out.”
“I am the candidate of the Democratic Party,” the fundraising email said. “No one is kicking me out. I’m not leaving, I’m in this race until the end and WE are going to win this election. If that’s all you need to hear, please contribute some money to help [Vice President Harris] and I will defeat Donald Trump in November.”
