Tech billionaire Elon Musk will interview former President Trump on Monday night on Musk’s X social platform, marking the former president’s latest effort to gain attention in a tight race against Vice President Harris.

It also appears to represent a return to X for the former president, who later posted on the platform.

The platform, then known as Twitter, was a big part of Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign and his entire presidency.

Her return comes as Harris has gained momentum in the presidential race since President Biden dropped out and endorsed her.

The live interview will begin at 8pm EDT and will be hosted on Trump’s official X account @realDonaldTrump. He will use X Spacesa feature that allows platform users to host live audio conversations.

The “live conversation” will be “improvised, with no subject limits”, Musk wrote Sundayadding that “it should be a lot of fun”. He encouraged users to post specific questions and comments in the stream’s chat.

The Trump campaign said it will be “the interview of the century.”

Musk posted some “system scaling tests” ahead of Monday night’s talk, which is expected to have a high volume of viewers.

Trump returned to the platform for the first time in nearly a year, sharing a campaign ad hours before the interview. It was only the second time Trump had posted on X since his account was suspended following the January 6, 2021 riot at the Capitol and reinstated the following year.

Just over an hour later, Trump posted again on the platform, lamenting the state of the country’s economy.

“Are you better off now than when I was president?” he wrote. Our economy is destroyed. Our border has been erased. We are a nation in decline. Make the American Dream ACCESSIBLE again. Make America SAFE again. Make America GREAT Again!”

Musk’s reinstatement of Trump’s account in 2022 was part of the tech billionaire’s new approach to the platform’s content moderation policies following his purchase of the company.

The technology mogul endorsed Trump’s re-election bid shortly after the assassination attempt last month and has since launched a series of attacks on Harris.
