Amtrak still faces service disruptions Friday in the Northeast after service between New Haven, Connecticut, and Philadelphia was suspended Thursday afternoon.
“Starting at 8:24 a.m. ET, due to a disabled commuter train in New York City (NYP), all rail service will be delayed/modified between PHL and NYP,” Amtrak Northeast he said in a post on social platform X Friday morning. “The resumption of service is estimated at 12pm. Delays of at least 60 minutes are expected. Updates to come.”

Amtrak service was suspended between New Haven and Philadelphia due to a power outage on Thursday. Amtrak Northeast said in a series of posts on X that an airline power outage was reported between New York and Newark and warned of “significant delays” as crews worked on the issue.
Just before 3 p.m. EDT Thursday, rail traffic between New Haven and Philadelphia was suspended as crews attempted to restore power to the New York area.
“Significant delays are expected,” Amtrak said at the time X.
The company said in a statement that a faulty circuit breaker caused the power issue that caused power loss on the tracks.
