On December 4, 2024 we will hold the fourth annual Earth Day Call. Celebrating a planet worth protecting, we will partner with schools, individuals and organizations around the world to raise awareness of environmental issues and engage in conservation education. What is Calling to Earth?
Call to Earth is a CNN initiative dedicated to conservation, environmentalism and sustainability. On TV, Our site and on social media, we tell stories about our incredible planet and the remarkable people who protect it.
How to hold an Earth Day Call Out event
People of all ages can make a positive impact on our planet. Young and old can inspire each other. Indigenous knowledge can be shared everywhere. Call To Earth Day – Connected Generations celebrates the bonds between people and how they can help reverse the human impact on the planet.
Across the world, incredible individuals and groups are working to protect and preserve nature, using knowledge from the past to create a better future.
On December 4, 2024, CNN’s fourth annual Earth Day Call, Generations Connected, will celebrate these people while inspiring change.
Your participation is critical to the success of Call to Earth Day and we are grateful that you are interested in participating. Planning an event can be daunting, so here are our top tips on how to embark on your Earth Day Calling preparations.
Identify your goals
Whether you live in the desert and have firsthand experience of the dangers to Earth’s natural spaces, or whether you can effect change at the source by altering your habits and educating others, you can help us protect Our Shared Home.
To get started, it’s important to figure out what you hope to achieve with your event. You could focus on reducing plastic pollution, combating deforestation, protecting biodiversity, or a different environmental issue that is important to you.
Decide what to do
Last year, groups from around the world carried out beach and river cleanups, held tree-planting sessions, and designed ambitious artistic projects. For inspiration, you can check out a selection of incredible events from last year here.
Decide which environmental issue you want to take action on and try to figure out how your group can help.
Get help
If you need a little encouragement, you can use our Call to Earth Day activity suggestions – they’re particularly good for events involving younger children.

Register your event
Once you have a plan, the next step is to tell us what your event will be. You can register your Call for Earth Day event below.
Spread the word
Now you need to let your network know what you are doing, when, where and why your event will take place. (We found that emails, social media, and word of mouth are a little better for the planet than billboards.)
When the day arrives, be sure to tell the world about your event. Be sure to take photos and videos of what you are doing and post them on social media.
Please use the hashtag #CallToEarth or #CallToEarthDay so we can find the posts and potentially feature them in our coverage of the day.
