The wife of a Conservative councilor was arrested for racial hatred after calling for all migrant hotels to be closed set on fire.
Lucy Connolly posted the comments on her X account just hours after three girls were fatally stabbed in Southport.
In a since-deleted post, the nanny wrote: “Mass deportation now, set fire to all the damn hotels full of shit for all I care…
“If that makes me racist, so be it.”
Ms Connolly, from Northampton, later apologized and said she was acting on “false and malicious” information.
Northamptonshire Police said a 41-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of inciting racial hatred and remains in police custody.
Her husband, Raymond Connolly, is Conservative vice-chairman of West Northamptonshire Council’s adult social care committee.
He defended his wife by telling the BBC she made a “stupid, unexpected tweet out of frustration and quickly deleted it.”
Connolly continued: “She is a good person and is not racist.
“She takes care of children from Somalia and Bangladesh and loves them as if they were her own.”
In a post on X, formerly Twitter, last night she said: “I am someone who cares enormously about children and the similarity between those beautiful children who were so brutally attacked and my own daughter fills me with horror, but I shouldn’t I expressed this horror the way I did.
“This was an invaluable lesson for me in realizing how wrong and inaccurate things that appear on social media can be.”
Your X account now appears to have been removed.
Childcare.co.uk has confirmed that an Ofsted-registered nanny has been suspended.

“Allegations subsequently emerged that this individual may be an Ofsted-registered childminder who had an advert on our platform.
“We have taken immediate action to suspend this advertiser.
“We understand that the individual has been reported to the Police and Ofsted.”
