Police shot a man in a village in Surrey following reports of an altercation, leaving him in a critical condition.

The 20-year-old man is hospitalized.

Surrey Police received reports of an “altercation” between two people, including an armed man, in the street in Nursery Road, Knaphill, shortly after midnight.

One of them was shot and taken to hospital, where he remains in critical but stable condition.

It is believed that the two know each other.

A weapon was seized at the scene by police.
