The heartbroken family of the young man who died in the Hainault attack has paid tribute to their “beloved” son.

Daniel Anjorin, 14, was stabbed to death when a suspected swordsman launched a random attack on innocent bystanders on a street in north-east London on Tuesday.

Marcus Aurelio Arduini Monzo, 36, is accused of murdering the student and seriously injuring four others – including hero father Henry De Los Rios Polania.

Young Daniel’s devastated family have now told how he was on his way to school – and now he is gone.

They said they were still struggling to cope with his death.

Loved ones said: “We as a family are devastated by the loss of our beloved son Daniel.

“It is difficult for us at this time to process what happened to him and that he will never come home again. Daniel left home to go to school and then left.

“Our children have lost their loving, precious brother and we have lost their most beloved and incredible son.

“We would like to send our best wishes to the other victims of this unthinkable incident.

“We would also like to thank the local community for all their support during this most difficult time.

“We ask that the media respect our privacy and avoid contacting us or our family.”

The family’s moving words came just hours after Arsenal fans paid tribute to Daniel.

Premier League fans announced yesterday that they planned to give the football-mad youngster a minute’s applause.

And today, in a moving tribute, they did just that – as a huge red banner reading RIP Daniel was held up by the crowd.

The applause came in the 14th minute of the match, at the Emirates stadium, when the Gunners faced Bournemouth.

Photos of the heartbreaking scenes were shared on social media.

I would like to start by thanking all the NHS nurses, paramedics and doctors for keeping me alive.

There have been tributes to Daniel, who was the youngest of three children in a local church-going Nigerian family.

His mother, Grace Anjorin, 49, is a science teacher, while his father, Dr. Ebenezer Anjorin, 59, works as a health and safety consultant.

A friend of the student described him as a “very good person” who excelled at maths, loved football and supported Arsenal.

Musician Femi Koleoso said: “Words don’t even begin to describe the pain we have all felt over the last few days.

“Daniel was one of the children in the youth group I lead, Jubilee Youth, part of Jubilee Church London.

“There is no way to articulate the pain we all feel when we lose one of our own.

“Daniel is a boy we all love and will miss dearly. Our prayers and support are with the family at this time.

‘Hero’ father speaks

“In times like these, we trust in God and our family and support each other.”

Monzo, his alleged killer, appeared at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Thursday charged with murder.

He is also charged with two counts of attempted murder, two counts of grievous bodily harm, aggravated robbery and possession of a bladed article.

Yesterday, one of Monzo’s other alleged victims, hero father Henry, spoke from his hospital bed.

The brave father is said to have protected his daughter when they woke up to find the supposed swordsman in their home.

Henry’s sister had previously hailed him as a hero for protecting her family.

The father posted on Instagram: “I would like to start by thanking all the NHS nurses, paramedics and doctors for keeping me alive.

“To the great work of the police for capturing this… man and for risking their lives.

“To my friends and family, to all of you who helped me so I didn’t bleed and kept me alive.

“Thank you, God, for giving me strength to protect my family, I am blessed.

“I’m recovering, I have a long journey ahead. But I am very sure that this trauma will end soon.”

A GoFundMe page launched in Daniel’s older brother’s name raised more than £120,000.
