Hindley’s arrest was captured in a dramatic video that showed masked officers pinning the man to the ground next to weight machines.

Police handcuff the man and take him out of the gym and place him in a nearby van as shocked gym-goers watch.

Officers with rifles and dogs can be seen outside the building at the end of the clip.

Warehouse Gym boss Jonny Hart told Manchester Evening News that the police essentially “stormed the gym.”

He said: “We had a very busy gym with around 250 members, so there was obviously a lot of confusion.”

Hart said police placed the gym in a containment area and prevented anyone from arriving or leaving during the operation.

He said, “So they [police] swept the gym. They were quite methodical in how they did it. They caught him very quickly and held him in plastic, and then escorted him to the waiting vans.”

Hart said gym staff and regulars helped point out to police which areas the man had used and whether he had brought a bag with him.

He added that a police officer told him the man was under surveillance during the day and, after realizing he was not at his home address, they followed him to the gym.

Greater Manchester Police said they executed four warrants at 7.30pm in the Bolton, Great Lever, Abram and Hindley areas.

ISIS ‘lone wolves’ will attack Britain within months as MI5 ‘prepares to raise threat level’, terrorism experts warn

A spokesman said on Thursday: “The men, aged 35, 36 and 51, were arrested at different locations and taken into custody for questioning.”

Deputy Chief Constable Rob Potts, responsible for counter-terrorism policing in the North West, said: “This evening we executed a number of planned warrants as part of an ongoing counter-terrorism investigation.

“Three men were taken into custody for questioning and scenes remain at the scene whilst we carry out further investigations. Today’s activity was the culmination of very detailed planning and we have implemented measures to minimize disruption to local residents as much as possible.

“I understand that whenever arrests of this nature are made, it will cause concerns and people will naturally have questions. While we cannot go into specific details of the investigation at this stage, I want to reassure members of the public that we do not currently believe there is any broader threat linked to the current activity.

“Further details will be released when appropriate as the investigation progresses.”

Muslim teen convert who considered Isle of Wight Festival a potential target for terror attack jailed for seven years

By Mike Sullivan

A TEENAGE Muslim convert who considered the Isle of Wight Festival a potential target for a terrorist attack has been detained for seven years.

The 16-year-old, who was 15 at the time, also researched weapons, vehicles and bulletproof vests, and obtained a knife.

After ruling out the festival as a target because he didn’t have a car, the young man hatched plans to stab people who worked with him at a specialist education institution, a court heard.

His ideology was influenced by IS, police said.

Kingston Crown Court in south-west London heard he discussed his plans with others online when he received messages such as: “I heard you were going to attack the festival, is that true?”

The teenager, who cannot be identified due to his age, was convicted of charges including preparing acts of terrorism.
