More details about election night and Sky News’ campaign coverage, podcasts and special programming will be revealed in the coming days and weeks.

Kay Burley, main presenter, said: “This will be my twelfth UK general election. I am as committed to top-notch, fast and accurate coverage in 2024 as I was when Margaret Thatcher became PM in 1979.”

Burnham said: “I’m really looking forward to joining the Sky team for the evening’s general election coverage. It will be a different experience for me to be able to participate in analyzing the results rather than just worrying about my own. Having been involved in the 1997 general election at Labor Party headquarters and then as a minister in subsequent elections, I hope to be able to bring a fresh vision to what a new government faces.”
