A search has been launched for a missing hiker who may have become “disorientated” while hiking on the Isle of Rum.
Enthusiastic walker Mary Molloy, 68, was last seen walking in the area between Trollabhal and Bealach an Fhuarain at around 2.30pm on Saturday.
She later contacted her family around 6:30 p.m., but police Scotland said it is not known where she was at that time on the island of the Inner Hebrides.
The force believes Ms Molloy was trying to return to the Dibidil area and “may have become disorientated”.
Officers are becoming “increasingly concerned” about her welfare.
Inspector Graham Brown said: “Mary is a keen hill walker but from what we were told she may have become disorientated and was unable to follow the planned route.
“We have specialist resources, including mountain rescue teams, helicopters and search dogs, in the area but we also need the public’s help with information.”

Molloy is about 5 feet 7 inches tall, with a medium build and long gray hair.
When last seen, she was wearing a turquoise waterproof jacket, red pants, brown boots, blue hat and red gloves. She was also carrying a gray backpack.

Inspector Brown added: “I would appeal to anyone who was in Rum on Saturday and thinks they may have seen someone matching their description to come forward.
“Additionally, anyone who knows Mary’s intended route or areas she would like to visit should contact us.”
