A 20-year-old London man has been arrested for the murder of a woman on a beach in Bournemouth.

Amie Gray, 34, was stabbed to death on Friday night.

Another woman, aged 38, also from Poole, suffered serious injuries and is still being treated in hospital.

Dorset Police were called to reports of two women who had been stabbed on Durley Chine Beach at around 11.45pm on Friday.

A 20-year-old man from the Croydon area of ​​London has been arrested on suspicion of murder and attempted murder.

Detective Superintendent Richard Dixey, of the Serious Crime Investigation Team, said: “The investigation has progressed rapidly over the last few days, which has now led to an arrest in London.

“Officers from Dorset Police’s intelligence and firearms teams worked closely with colleagues from the Metropolitan Police to make the arrest.

“We continue to update the loved ones of the woman who tragically died, as well as the victim in hospital, with all the latest developments and our thoughts remain with them.

“I would like to thank everyone who has so far provided information and reiterate my appeal for any witnesses who have not yet come forward to contact Dorset Police.

“An enhanced and visible policing presence in the area will remain in place and we will continue to strongly encourage anyone with concerns not to hesitate to speak to any police officer who is able to listen and provide appropriate advice.”
