Four people were injured after a “malfunction” at an amusement park in south London.

Lambeth Council said the “serious incident” happened at the Lambeth Country Show in Brockwell Park.

The incident was reported at around 6.20pm on Saturday and emergency services arrived quickly, a spokesperson said.

The injured were then taken to nearby hospitals.

“The area around the ride is safe and the amusement park has been closed,” the spokesperson added.

“A full investigation is being conducted to determine the cause of the malfunction.

“Additional safety inspections are being carried out on all rides and attractions at the show.”

“No one is trapped on the sidewalk,” Lambeth police said.

“There are cordons in place,” the police added.

“The Health and Safety Executive will be informed.”

The London Ambulance Service said it sent “multiple resources to the scene, including four ambulance crews and members of our hazardous area response team”.

The London Air Ambulance was also dispatched.

“We treated four people at the scene and took them all to major trauma centers,” a spokesperson said.
