TERRIFIED residents have revealed their misery living in an estate they say is plagued by crime, drugs and naked sex workers.

Residents living in Townley Court in Stratford, east London, claim they have been robbed several times while children witnessed sexual acts on the way to school.

Residents admit that they are afraid to go out or sometimes even peep through the windows of their homes.

Some say they believe the police have “given up” on protecting them, with local residents losing trust that officers will do anything to solve problems – if they arise.

A disabled resident who challenged a group inside his building says they had a gun pointed at him.

Naked sex workers are said to be walking around outdoors near children playing.

Residents fear it may take someone’s death before action can be taken.

A furious mother showed doorbell footage of her nine-year-old son leaving home to find a prostitute and her client having sex on the stairs.

Another resident witnessed a prostitute performing a sexual act in broad daylight and in full view of children playing.

One local resident, who wished to remain anonymous, said: “We are under siege. It’s like a horror show.”

A neighbor said: “It’s very dangerous around here.

“At night, I’m scared to go home. As soon as it gets dark, I panic.”

An elderly resident said he was robbed twice.

“The police never showed up,” he said of the latest attack. “They said they didn’t have enough vehicles… It’s always the same story.”

He said one member of the group even smiled at him, boasting, “You can’t do anything.”

A mother who lives on the property said: “Sometimes I’m afraid to even look outside in case they see me.

“They are very hostile. They don’t care. They do it openly because they know nothing will happen.

“If you call the police, they show up hours later or just send them away. They come back ten, 15 minutes later.

“Sometimes the police pass by people who are openly using drugs and do nothing.”

Many residents say they have given up calling the police because of the lack of action.

One man said: “The police talk to us like we’re a bunch of idiots. They have a script and they just stick to it.”

Another resident, a woman, said: “It’s as if the police and the municipality are afraid of them.

“It’s like things got out of hand and they can’t get it back now, so they just gave up.

“I’ve seen a woman drop her panties and go to the bathroom in the middle of the road.

“A city employee was there. I said, ‘Look!’ but he just said, ‘There’s nothing I can do.'”

Addicts and prostitutes allegedly obtained keys used by firefighters, allowing them to enter residents’ blocks to use drugs, have sex, vomit and defecate.

Locals say the property has become so illegal that sex workers sometimes walk around naked.

One man said: “I feel sorry for them. They are humans like us.

“But we are not disrupting other people’s lives. We don’t need this to happen right on our doorstep.”

Drug users are said to hold noisy gatherings on residents’ doorsteps and gardens “every night”.

“We had a fight here the other night,” said one man. “They were shouting, ‘Give me the knife! Give me the knife!'”

Residents alleged that sex workers also sometimes steal from their clients, which leads to screams and screams.

A school employee, who has lived on the property for more than 20 years, said the disease was seriously affecting children living on the property.

“It’s just relentless,” they said. “Sometimes I go to work for two, three hours of sleep.

“Some kids here are at my school and they’re not sleeping either.”

Residents also became accustomed to finding unconscious addicts on the streets.

The London Ambulance Service was called last month to an unresponsive woman.

“I went to work and came back at the end of the day and the woman was still there in the same position,” said the resident who called them.

“I thought she was dead.”

Another man said he was threatened with a machete when he confronted someone.

He said: “A guy put a camera in my face and tried to punch me in the face.

“As soon as I took the camera away from him, he pulled out a knife the size of my forearm.”

The resident stated that the group stole his children’s sneakers on another occasion.

“Every night I get a call from my lady saying, ‘They’re here, they’re fighting,'” he added.

“We found needles, condoms… Every morning I have to clean the stairs before I take my children to school.”

The man said abusive messages were scrawled on his building after his wife simply asked a group to move so she could enter their home.

These messages have since been deleted, but a graffiti tag reading ‘Demon Gang’ remains painted on the property.

Urine and suspected drug packaging were visible on the man’s stairs, while faeces, condoms, discarded underwear and a knife were found in the property’s gardens.

Residents said they took the risk to collect evidence, only to be ignored.

When the addicts realized that local residents had started filming them, some began using drugs behind umbrellas, it is claimed.

Local residents said they spent months collecting photos and videos of an alleged drug dealer’s car.

“People sleep there, they have sex there, they use drugs there,” said one resident.

The Met said it was “aware of a potentially suspicious vehicle” and was “investigating”.

One man said: “Someone is going to die. We are all suffering.”

Residents said authorities carried out “useless” daytime patrols, despite problems occurring overwhelmingly at night.

Newham Council said: “We carry out numerous task patrols but unfortunately all of the issues raised happen outside of operational hours.”

He added: “We will now ensure there are extra patrols to support residents.”

The Met said it is now also “reviewing local officers’ shift patterns to ensure they are in the area at the right times”.

One young woman, whose parents bought the house on the property in the 1990s, said it wasn’t always like this.

“I just don’t understand,” she said.

“Stratford is a prime location. How could they let things get so bad?

“It’s like they just don’t care.

“Every time I come home from the gym, I think, ‘Please God, I hope they don’t do anything to me’… It’s so scary.”

The woman said her car was recently broken into, but when she started parking further away, she received a ticket.

“So they don’t mind coming here and handing out parking tickets,” she fumed.

“It’s embarrassing, as well as unsafe. You don’t want to invite people to your house.

“The police are doing absolutely nothing. Maybe one of these days, if someone gets hurt, they will come.”

One pensioner agreed, saying: “It’s like they’re waiting for someone to actually get stabbed.

“I just don’t know how this is going to end. It has to be stopped, one way or another.

“Otherwise it will be deadly.”

Another frustrated resident added: “If the police and council did their job, we wouldn’t have to put up with all this.”

Newham Council said it would secure blocks of flats with new locks, preventing intruders from breaking in with fireproof keys.

A spokesperson said: “We have been working closely with the police to deter anti-social behavior issues through joint operations, which has resulted in arrests and community protection orders being issued in March 2024.”

A Met spokesperson added: “We are working hard to resolve the issue to make residents feel safer.

“We have heard the concerns and are actively working with partners to reduce problems in the area.

“As part of this work, we have a Design Out Crime officer visiting the area. They will make recommendations on what needs to change.”
