The UK’s tallest rollercoaster at a major theme park broke down days after reopening.
The Hyperia at Thorpe Park in Surrey ground to a halt on Saturday, leaving riders stranded for an hour at one of its highest points.
Thrill seekers were stuck 70 meters in the air as they waited for the ride to be repaired.
Hyperia only opened in May and has since suffered a series of breakdowns.
After just one day of operations, on May 24, it was forced to close for two weeks.
The attraction reopened on Wednesday before stopping on Saturday.
Theme park giant Thorpe Park said passengers had been “communicated throughout” the closure and these types of “stops are perfectly normal”.
A spokesperson said: “Hyperia experienced a slight delay in operation today.
“Guests were held in the elevator for approximately an hour before travel resumed and the train was taken back to the station.
“Shutdowns are perfectly normal and common at theme parks everywhere.
“At no time were there any safety concerns for guests.”
