A man has been airlifted to hospital with serious injuries following an incident involving a dog in south Wales.
Police were called to Blair Way, Aberavon, at around 7am this morning after a 24-year-old man was injured.
A dog, which was confirmed to be a cross between a Pitbull and a Staffordshire Terrier, was sedated and removed from the scene by police.
A Welsh Ambulance Service spokesperson confirmed that an ambulance was present.
A South Wales Police spokesperson said: “Officers attended Blair Way, Aberavon, at around 7am this morning following a report of an incident involving a man and a dog.
“A 24-year-old man was taken to hospital by air ambulance with serious injuries.
“The dog was sedated and removed from the scene by police dog units.”
A spokesperson for Wales Air Ambulance confirmed it responded to an incident in the region.
“Our Dafen-based crew was deployed at 7:30 am and attended to by air,” they added.
“They arrived at the scene at 7:43 am. Our engagement concluded at 8:02.”
The force confirmed that its investigation into the incident is ongoing.
