Coventry hit and run: police arrest man over crash that left Keaton Slater, 12, dead | UK News

Police have arrested a 21-year-old man on suspicion of killing a 12-year-old boy in a crash in Coventry.

West Midlands Police said officers are continuing to search a second man – Dollars Aleksanders, 21, after Keaton Slater was hit by a black BMW, believed to contain four men, on Radford Road shortly after 4.30pm on Friday – fair.

The boy was later pronounced dead at the scene.

Keaton’s family paid tribute to a “fun little comedian” who was “so beautiful inside and out”.

A BMW vehicle found abandoned Friday night in New Arley is being forensically examined.

The 21-year-old was arrested at an address in Coventry at around 4am on Tuesday and remains in custody on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

Police are still appealing for the public’s help to find Aleksanders, who is also wanted on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

Detective Inspector Sam Lewis, from the West Midlands Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “We believe there were four people in the car at the time and we are working hard to understand their involvement in the tragic events of the night.

“One of them is being treated as a witness, while another was voluntarily interviewed and released under investigation.

“We believe that the man detained today was also in the car, as was Dolars Alexsanders.

“We continue to support Keaton’s family at this time, and they and the officers have been touched by the huge outpouring of support there has been since Friday.”
