A new YouGov poll projects that Labor is on track to win a 200-seat majority at the general election – while the Conservatives will fall to their lowest ever number of MPs.

If this and similar polls are accurate, it suggests that Britain is on the verge of a fundamental reshaping of the political landscape compared to five years ago.

The projection suggests the The Conservatives will lose more than half of the 365 seats won by Boris Johnson’s party in 2019 – falling to 108 deputies.

Meanwhile, Labor is on track for 425 seats, more than double the 202 seats won under Jeremy Corbyn and beating all of Labour’s previous records since the party was founded at the start of the last century.

The Liberal Democrats would win 67 seats under this projection, six times the number of seats they won in 2019.

John Swinney’s SNP is predicted to fall to 20 seats, down from the 48 won by Nicola Sturgeon at the last general election.

Nigel Farage’s Reform party is on course to win five seats, the Greens two seats and Plaid Cymru four seats.
