A 15-year-old BRAVE student was tragically killed after falling 30 meters into a quarry while trying to rescue his friend.
The horror unfolded when Myron Davies “instinctively reacted to save” his 14-year-old friend after she lost her balance at Abersychan Quarry in Pontypool, South Wales.

An inquest today in Newport heard how the girl was airlifted from the site in a critical condition after the pair went to “admire the view” in July 2022.
The student, who wishes to remain anonymous, was released from hospital after making a full recovery.

Detectives theorized that branches from the quarry broke his fall.
She told police Myron was “fine” before the tragedy happened, while friends and family confirmed he was a “happy boy” with “no mental health issues.”
An eyewitness told how he spotted the teenagers in distress in his garden.
Lloyd Whitelock recalled that there was a “little delay” between Myron falling and the girl.
He told the coroner: “I was in complete shock and called 999.
“After processing it properly, there were two people and I’m sure they didn’t jump.”
The old limestone quarry was a popular spot before the incident, but has since been fenced off.
Detective Chief Inspector Leigh Holborn said: “It would have appeared to me that that girl was on a slightly lower ledge, she slipped, fell and Myron fell.
“One thought process is that she slipped and Myron went to try to help her – an automatic reaction when someone trips in front of you.”
He added how the evidence led the force to believe “there was nothing to suggest a suicide pact”.
Myron’s backpack was ready for school the next day, with his laptop charged.
‘TRAGIC ACCIDENT’
While coroner Mrs Saunders concluded the teenager died in “a tragic accident”.
Myron’s medical cause of death was confirmed as multiple injuries.
She said: “Myron reacted instinctively to save her and in the process fell.
“The edge of the quarry is a dangerous place to be.
“Children can become blind to these dangers and take more risks than adults.”
It was also concluded that there was no third party involvement in Myron’s death and there was no evidence to suggest he intended to end his life.
Myron’s heartbroken mother Sarah said: “He meant so much to me.
“He was the most outgoing, happy person you could ever meet. Everyone who knew him loved being around him.
“As you can imagine, as his family, we are completely heartbroken and all of his friends are devastated as we try to make it through each day.”
