A HERO traveler jumps onto the railway tracks to rescue a child – just 22 seconds before a train passes by.
CCTV captured the three-year-old boy walking along the platform last month and beginning to duck before falling onto the track as a desperate adult ran towards him.
The man appears to freeze in panic until the hero runs, jumps onto the line and takes the boy to safety at Newark Northgate station in Nottinghamshire.
The station’s customer service assistant, Olivia Timms, who saw the incident, said: “I think the fact that a train passed through the station at speed just seconds later emphasized how terrible the outcome could have been.
“Thankfully, everyone got home safely that day and we want to make sure that happens every day.”
The LNER released the images – and those of another child falling onto the tracks – as part of rail safety week.
Warrick Dent, LNER director of security and operations, added: “Fortunately, incidents like the one captured on CCTV are rare, but they do happen.
“We know that traveling with children can be challenging. Transporting strollers and luggage through a busy station can be stressful.
“Therefore, we want to ensure that parents and guardians are aware of the services we have available that can make your journey with us smoother and safer.”
