Phil Foden has temporarily left the England camp for Euro 2024 in Germany due to an “urgent family matter”.

The 24-year-old Manchester City star played for the team’s draw 0-0 with Slovenia last night.

An FA spokesman said the father-of-two had “temporarily left the England camp and returned to the UK on an urgent family matter”.

Foden and his girlfriend are expecting their third child.

Last night’s result was enough to send Gareth Southgate team qualified as winner of Group C.

Although the Three Lions were criticized for their lackluster performance in the group stage games, they managed to reach the knockout stages in the strongest possible position.

Foden played in all three of England’s Group C games in Germany.

It is unclear whether he will return to the team in time for Sunday’s round of 16 match.
