An inquest into his death today heard how he was crushed by a steamroller.

An autopsy to establish the cause of death has not been completed, but his death is not being treated as suspicious.

The coroner has adjourned the full inquest in Aberystwyth until October this year.

Police have not released details about the young man’s death, but say they are not treating it as suspicious.

The devastated Maldwyn family have now paid tribute to the boy, who was known to his family as “Gwern” – meaning muddy or marshy.

They said: “As a family we are extremely distraught by our tragic loss and will miss him and the whole community very much.

“He was a loving son and a caring brother, who touched the hearts of so many.

“He lived his short life to the fullest and will be remembered for his captivating personality.

“He was an extremely sharp little farmer who had knowledge and skill beyond his years.”

Joyce George, headteacher at Ysgol Pontrhydfendigaid School in Maldwyn, also paid tribute to the young man.

She said: “We are extremely saddened to hear this tragic News.

“We would like to express our deepest condolences to the family at this very sad time.

“We will be providing help and support to our students and staff during this difficult time.”

Dyfed-Powys Police confirmed they were called to the house last week and said the coroner had been informed.
