Across the country, HSBC and Virgin Money customers have been affected by issues affecting their banking services.
The issues could affect workers on what is typically payday for many across the country.
Nationwide said there was a “delay with some customers receiving their wages or pensions today”.

Meanwhile, HSBC and Virgin Money said they were aware of the issues affecting their online and mobile banking services – with the former “very sorry” and the latter saying it was working to resolve the issue “as quickly as possible”.
“We are very sorry that some customers are having problems accessing online and mobile personal banking services,” HSBC UK said on its website.
“Our IT teams are working hard to get these services back to normal. You can even authorize online card purchases via SMS.”
According to the website DownDetector, more than 7,000 issues were reported as of around 8:45 a.m. on Friday.
The website also shows an increase in reports of outages at Virgin Money bank and building society across the country.
Customers across the country said on social media platform X complaining that they have not received their salaries in their accounts.
The bank said it was “aware that there is a delay in some customers receiving their salaries or pensions today.”
“These payments are being processed and will be deposited into your account today,” he added. “Sorry for any inconvenience this is causing.”
Virgin Money said on X that it is “aware of intermittent issues with access to online banking and our app, which we are working to resolve as quickly as possible”.
Last month, NatWest suffered a four-hour outage that affected its mobile and online banking services.
