Paramedics rushed to her home in Hyde, Manchester, but little Lila is believed to have been dead for several hours.

His sixth birthday was just two weeks away.

Recalling the terrifying ordeal, Rachael told the Manchester Evening News: “I woke up and she was dead next to me. I called an ambulance, but she had been dead for a few hours.

“They gave her CPR; they arrived within minutes, but it was too late. It’s horrible. I still can’t believe this happened.”

She added: “She was kind to everyone; I took her to school and picked her up and she hugged all the teachers. It would take her 30 minutes to leave.”

Rachael revealed how she and Lila’s dad Daz, 41, still don’t know how she died, meaning they still can’t properly grieve the loss.

An inquest into Lila’s death has been opened, with a full hearing scheduled for November.

Mourners packed a church as the family held a funeral a month after his death.

Recalling the service, Rachael said it was “the perfect day” for her daughter, with everyone from the primary school in attendance.

The family have now set up the charity Lila’s Light, which aims to create custom-made bereavement bags for young children who have lost a sibling.

Rachael said her family hopes to “keep Lila’s name alive” and give them “something positive to focus on.”
