Woman and man accused of murder of 14-year-old girl found dead in Darlington home as cops launch urgent investigation

A WOMAN and a man have been charged with murder after a schoolgirl was found dead at home.

Emergency services rushed to a house in Darlington, County Durham, on Friday night.

Two people, a man and a woman, have now been charged with murder.

Simon Vickers and Sarah Hall, both of Geneva Road, will appear at Newton Aycliffe Magistrates’ Court tomorrow.

Tributes are already pouring in for the young man.

One person wrote: “We will miss you in the cruel world we live in.”

Durham Police said today: “Two people have been charged following the death of a 14-year-old girl in Darlington.

“Police and paramedics were called to an address in Geneva Road shortly after 11pm on Friday 5 July.

“Unfortunately, the girl was pronounced dead at the scene.

“Simon Vickers and Sarah Hall, both of Geneva Road, Darlington, have been charged with murder and will appear at Newton Aycliffe Magistrates’ Court tomorrow.”

Detective Superintendent Craig Rudd, senior investigating officer, added: “This incident resulted in the tragic death of a young woman and our thoughts are with her family and friends.

“I would like to thank the local community for their patience and cooperation whilst investigation work is still being carried out at the scene, and reassure residents that we believe this is an isolated incident.”

The North East Ambulance Service said: “We received a call at 10.46pm on Friday 5th July about an incident at a private address on Geneva Road in Darlington.

“We sent five resources in total, including a doctor and a specialist paramedic. The police also attended the scene.”
