Emma Raducanu has been eliminated from Wimbledon after losing to qualifier Lulu Sun in the fourth round.
Raducanu was defeated in three sets by New Zealand’s Sun, who won the match 6-2, 5-7, 6-2, on Center Court.
The British number three, who took a medical break at the start of the deciding set after slipping on the grass, was aiming to reach the women’s singles quarter-finals for the first time at SW19.
The 21-year-old had Withdrew from his mixed doubles match with Sir Andy Murray on Saturday due to stiffness in his wrist – which denied him the chance of another match in his final match at Wimbledon.
Raducanu, currently ranked 135th in the world, was the last remaining Brit in any singles draw at the All England Club.
For Sun, it was the first time she played on Center Court.
After the win, she said: “It was a great match. I really dug deep to get the win.
“I really had to fight her tooth and nail [Raducanu] because she would obviously chase every ball and fight until the end. I don’t even have words right now.”
Speaking about his debut on the famous grass court, Sun, who is ranked 123rd in the world, said: “As I walked towards Center Court, I was just looking around and taking it all in for the first time.
“I’m very happy to be able to play on this court in front of all of you. It’s an incredible experience for me.”

During the match, Sun committed 44 unforced errors while Raducanu committed 21, but also hit 52 winners to just 19 for his British opponent.
Sun also broke Raducanu’s serve five times and won 23 of 28 points at the net.
Sun, who has a Croatian father and Chinese mother, will face Croatian Donna Vekic in the quarter-finals.
Raducanu was playing in his first Wimbledon for two years.

The Brit, who qualified when she won the US Open women’s singles title in 2021, missed much of last year after surgery on her wrist and ankle.
She withdrew from qualifying for the French Open in May to focus on preparing for Wimbledon.
She returned to action in June, reaching the semi-finals of the Nottingham Open and then the quarter-finals in Eastbourne.

Prior to that, she had not played competitive tennis since losing the first round of the Madrid Open in April.
She received a wildcard to play at Wimbledon this year – her current world ranking was not high enough to warrant automatic entry.
