Four people have died trying to cross the English Channel from France to the UK.

The French coast guard confirmed the deaths after a boat capsized and said 63 migrants were rescued during an attempted overnight crossing.

The deaths were first reported by French newspaper La Voix Du Nord and broadcaster BFM TV, which cited local authorities.
