A Glasgow cafe owner says she is delighted after “some absolute melting” returned a missing ice cream statue that had been taken from outside the premises.
The large ornament has been a permanent fixture at Café Langside in from the city Southside for about 40 years and has also appeared in the store’s artwork.
It disappeared a few weeks ago, leaving only the flaked model.
The cafe’s owner, Isabell Graham, hoped it would eventually return.
She told Sky News: “We thought it might reappear but it didn’t. And then I thought about buying a new one and they were about £500-600.
“I thought ‘oh, a lot of money’, so we put a little post on Instagram yesterday and a lot of people shared it.
“I arrived this morning and had a lovely note. We’re so pleased because we’ve had it for a long time.”

It said: “Dear Café Langside, I found the ice cream lying next to the trash, missing the flake and assumed it had been thrown away.
“We are very sorry and hope this has not caused too much distress. Please forgive us.
“Love, some absolute meltdowns.”

Graham accepts the apology and believes the incident was not malicious – although other cones have gone missing outside the 104-year-old cafe.
Graham, who has run the business for six years, said: “The one we have now is from the late 1980s, but some older ones have disappeared over the years.
“It’s not very old, but it’s old enough.”

The cone has since been reunited with its flake.
Graham added: “It’s outside the cafe now.
“It’s just a great story. She disappeared, she was returned.
“It’s very iconic because a lot of people have photos with this cone and kids love it.”
