A manhunt is underway for an inmate who escaped from a Gloucestershire prison, with police warning the public not to approach him.
Gary Rootham escaped from HMP Leyhill, where he was serving a sentence for crimes including robbery and theft, Avon and Somerset Police said.
He was last seen at around 4.50pm on Friday by prison staff wearing a dark Nike polo shirt, dark joggers and black trainers with white soles.
The last sighting of Rootham was captured on CCTV.
“If you see Rootham, please do not approach,” said a spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Police.
The wanted prisoner is about 5 feet 7 inches tall, has short dark brown hair and is generally clean shaven, police said. He has links with Reading and Cornwall.
