The wildfire started at around 6pm yesterday and the area was cordoned off.

Disturbing footage revealed fire crews battling huge flames on the road.

There were no injuries and it appears no arrests have been made as the cause of the fire is still unknown.

Local residents rallied together to help raise money for the ice cream van owner, who called the incident a “huge scam”, and created a crowdfunding page.

“I have been serving this community for years and seeing my truck catch fire is heartbreaking,” the truck owner revealed anonymously.

Meanwhile, some viewers tried to approach the situation with a touch of light-hearted humor.

One of them commented: “At least there will be no shortage of cones to isolate the area.”

“It looks like it went up like a rocket… the owner of the van is certainly not having a fabulous day,” joked another.

After images of the fire circulated on social media, others quickly added their puns.

“I would say the damage done would be in the hundreds and thousands,” one commented.

Someone joked: “We need Magnum PI on the case to find the cause.”

A London Fire Brigade spokesperson commented: “We were called at 6.15pm yesterday to reports of a vehicle fire on Gainsborough Avenue, near Ilford.

“Firefighters arrived and discovered an ice cream van fully alight before safely extinguishing the fire.

“A nearby car was also partially damaged in the fire. There were no reports of injuries.

“Two fire engines from Ilford Fire Station attended the scene.”

The London Fire Brigade confirmed that the cause is still unknown.
