A woman has been arrested amid a police investigation into the alleged mismanagement of human remains and funds at a former funeral business.

Police Scotland launched an investigation into Milne Independent Funeral Directors earlier this year, after complaints.

Forensic police officers were photographed at the company’s headquarters Glasgow branch in May. The company also had an office in Dumbarton, West Dunbartonshire.

In an update on Monday, Police Scotland confirmed that officers executed search warrants at residential properties in Springburn, Glasgow, and in Bishopbriggs, East Dunbartonshire.

A 55-year-old woman was arrested in connection with the case and released pending further investigation.

The force said a number of items “relevant to the investigation” – dubbed Operation Koine – were seized as the investigation continued.
