A police officer armed with a Taser kicked and stamped on the head of a man who was lying face down on the ground at Manchester Airport.

The incident was filmed and widely shared on social media.

A second man was also shot by the officer.

The video is being “evaluated” by professional standards, Major Manchester The police said.

Eyewitness Amar told Sky News he heard screams as he turned a corner in the area. He heard: “you are under arrest, you are wanted”.

He says he then saw a man being “pinned against the wall”, before “pushing and pushing”.

Amar says he believes it was then that the man’s brother “ran over” him before being thrown to the ground and “kicked” by police.

Greater Manchester Police said firearms officers were responding to reports of an altercation between members of the public.

The force added that one officer involved suffered a broken nose and that all three officers who responded were taken to hospital.

The force said “there was a clear risk during this attack that their firearms would be taken from them” and said they “acknowledge the concerns of the conduct contained in the video”.

Four men were arrested for fighting and assaulting emergency service workers, police said.
