A prison officer has admitted to having an “inappropriate relationship” with an inmate.

Kelsey Calvert, 28, also pleaded guilty to a charge of possession of a prohibited article when bringing codeine into HMP Holme House, a category C men’s prison in Stockton-on-Tees, County Durham.

Calvert, of Ryhope, Sunderland, sobbed in the dock at Teesside Crown Court on Friday.

The court heard she admits one count of misconduct in public office for having an inappropriate relationship with an inmate before November 22, 2022.
