ECO idiots attacked Heathrow Airport just hours after trying – unsuccessfully – to wreak havoc on tourists at Gatwick.

Just Stop Oil protesters this morning covered departure signs with orange paint at Heathrow, before landing on the ground.

Activists also painted windows and floors with orange paint in the departures area of Heathrow Terminal 5.

Two eco fanatics were photographed sitting in front of the signs, before more photos showed protesters being dragged away by security.

It comes after the group tried to stop passengers at the Gatwick departure gates yesterday, but they simply walked over them.

Heathrow Airport this morning told The Sun: “Working with partners, we quickly resolved a protest incident at Terminal 5 and everyone involved has been removed from the airport.

“The airport continues to operate normally and passengers are traveling as planned.”

The Met Police confirmed that two protesters had been arrested and said officers remained at the terminal to “deal with any further crimes”.

Just Stop Oil activists yesterday attempted to disrupt the southern terminal of the main airport at around 8am yesterday – but footage shows tourists overcoming the ill-conceived blockade.

Sussex Police said yesterday: “Police responded to a report that protesters were demonstrating near the security entrance to Gatwick Airport South Terminal at around 8am today.

“Eight people were arrested on suspicion of interfering with public infrastructure and a reinforced police presence is to be expected at this time.

Nine Just Stop Oil activists arrested at Heathrow airport

“The airport is operating normally and no disruptions have been caused by protest activities.”

A London Gatwick spokesperson previously said the airport is “open and operating normally”.

They added: “There are a small number of protesters at the airport who have been arrested and are being removed from the airport.”

Meanwhile, fellow climate activists from Extinction Rebellion yesterday blocked Old Queen Street in Westminster, central London, in a protest against the office building of think tank Policy Exchange, with pools of black liquid spilling onto the ground.

The decision comes amid a campaign by the group to target airports and disrupt the holiday industry, after shifting its focus away from blocking roads.

Last week, several members of Just Stop Oil were arrested in several countries during a crackdown on their vacation plan.

Comment from Heathrow:

Working with partners, we quickly resolved a protest incident at Terminal 5 and everyone involved was evacuated from the airport.

“The airport continues to operate normally and passengers are traveling as planned.

“We fully agree that the aviation industry needs to decarbonise, but illegal and irresponsible protest activity is not the way forward and will not be tolerated.”

Eco-fanatics announced July 23rd as an “international revolt” by seven groups under the banner “O Petróleo Mata”.

But everything stopped after a series of police raids.

In the aftermath, there were demands that the authorities throw the book at them to avoid a possible summer of chaos.

Seven protesters were led away in handcuffs from Heathrow before they could reach the tarmac. Three others were arrested in other locations.

Airport bosses said there was “no impact on operations”.

The group, seen on bicycles at the perimeter fence, was arrested at 9am under the Public Order Act, on suspicion of conspiring to interfere with an important national infrastructure site.

Prisons around the world

Cutting and gluing equipment was found.

Other arrests occurred in Germany, Norway, Finland, Spain, Austria and Switzerland.

The drama unfolded after Extinction Rebellion mastermind Roger Hallam and four others were jailed earlier this month for up to five years after The Sun exposed their campaign to block highways in 2022.

It appeared to have been coordinated from the UK, with the press team behind Just Stop Oil promoting a pre-planned launch on the group’s behalf.

The group named two of those arrested as Sally Davidson, a 36-year-old hairdresser from Portland, Dorset, and Adam Beard, 55, a gardener from Stroud, Gloucestershire.

Two Just Stop Oil activists were found guilty of criminal damage last week after throwing soup over Vincent Van Gogh’s painting Sunflowers.

Phoebe Plummer and Anna Holland, both 22, threw a can of Heinz tomato soup onto the masterpiece on display at London’s National Gallery in October 2022.
