A teenager was rushed to hospital after being stabbed on a busy seafront last night.
The 16-year-old was involved in a fight with another young man on Bournemouth beach at around 9.30pm.
During the fight, the teenager suffered suspected stab wounds and was rushed to the hospital.
His injuries are described as non-life-threatening.
Officers arrived at the scene near Bournemouth pier.
They arrested a 21-year-old man from Southampton on suspicion of intentionally inflicting grievous bodily harm.
The shocking incident happened on the hottest day of the year, when the beach was packed with tens of thousands of tourists.
“It was absolute chaos from 9:30 pm onwards,” a resident told Daily Echo.
“Suddenly there were sirens everywhere. I’ve never heard so many sirens, and they were at high speed, one after another.
“It was chaos. Honestly, I’ve never heard anything like it.”
A spokesperson for Dorset Police said: “Officers were at the scene moments after the incident occurred, due to increased patrols along the seafront.
“This will continue throughout the summer as we work with our partners to increase attendance.
“We will continue to deal robustly with any reports of crime and anti-social behavior.
“We want to make it clear to those who come to visit our shores that any disorderly behavior reported will not be tolerated.
“We will take decisive action in response, making full use of the powers available to us and our partners.”
