Cops have released CCTV of a man they want to speak to about the alleged sexual assault

British Transport Police (BTP) have now released a photo of a man they wish to speak to.

The sexual crime would have happened around 11:30 am last Monday.

The woman told police that the man boarded the train and sexually assaulted her while she slept.

She said she confronted the man who got up and walked along the carriage before getting out at Manchester Piccadilly.

BTP has now released an image of a man they want to speak to.

The force said in a statement: “Officers investigating a report of sexual assault have today released this image in connection.

“Sometime between 11.30am and 12.30pm on Monday 24 June, a woman was traveling on a train from London Euston to Manchester Piccadilly.

“A man boarded the service, who had called at Nuneaton, Stoke and Stockport and sat next to her, sexually assaulting her as she slept.

“After she confronted him, the man stood up and climbed into the carriage, before exiting the train at Manchester Piccadilly.

“Officers believe the person in the image has information that could assist in their investigation.

“Anyone who recognizes him or has any information should contact BTP via SMS 61016 or telephone 0800 40 50 40, quoting reference 609 of 24 June.

“Alternatively, you can contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
