ALARM bells began to ring for missing Briton Simon Robinson when his friends still hadn’t heard from him on his birthday.

Simon, 27, left for Thailand on July 22 for a solo holiday and was due to return on July 26, but never arrived home, his family said.

Those close to the missing Lincolnshire boy began to worry something was seriously wrong when his 27th birthday came and went days later – and no one had any contact with him.

Pal Sam Champ took to Facebook last Friday to alert a Thai travel group about her disappearance, according to the Bangkok Post Office.

The post read: “Hello everyone. I need your help please

“One of my dear friends disappeared in Bangkok, he has not been heard from since July 26th.

“He was supposed to board a flight that day and didn’t show up.

“Yesterday was his 27th birthday and everyone is very worried.”

Simon originally planned to stay in Thailand until August 3, before bringing forward his return to July 26, his distraught sister said.

It is believed he called his girlfriend to tell her he would be returning to the UK early.

But he never turned up and the family are now trying to raise awareness on social media in a desperate bid to find him.

While he was initially believed to have gone missing in the busy city of Bangkok, new information has emerged indicating he may be 5,000 miles away in Finland.

Sister Sarah Robinson Dale posted updates on her Facebook page and received a report from a man claiming to be a Thai immigration officer.

This moved the family’s search from Southeast Asia to the Arctic Circle, and Simon is believed to have caught a Finnair flight from Bangkok to Helsinki.

Sarah said: “I’m waiting for a call from the police and the embassy in Helsinki.”

The Foreign Office has only said it is ready to help any Brits abroad, while Finnair has not confirmed whether Simon took one of its flights due to customer confidentiality.

Sarah accused UK police of failing to take action after the incident was raised with South Yorkshire Police.

She said: “A huge thank you to everyone who shared and to the kind people who discovered this information as authorities on both sides did nothing.”

South Yorkshire Police officers have not issued their own missing persons appeal.

International border crossing police, Interpol, said they would not comment on an investigation unless there were exceptional circumstances.

It comes after Australian tourist Kieran James Cramer, 28, also went missing in Thailand in July.

He was eventually found in Bangkok, but mystery still surrounds his disappearance.

Another Brit disappeared in Sardinia in July.

Michael Frison, 25, allegedly left his home on the Italian island “naked” before disappearing, according to his worried mother.

Young lawyer Ben Ross, 26, disappeared in Mallorca around the same time.

The Greater Manchester resident was eventually found alive after almost two weeks, in a relief for the family.
