A SUSPICIOUS assassination plot against Vladimir Putin was dramatically halted by the US after Ukraine planned to target Vlad with a kamikaze drone, Moscow claims.
Russian intelligence allegedly uncovered a covert operation in Kiev aimed at eliminating the tyrant at the Navy Day parade in St. Petersburg on July 28.
Putin’s panicked deputy foreign minister, Sergei Ryabkov, described the alleged plot as “madness”, telling Russian state TV Rossiya 1 that such an attack would plunge the world into chaos.
Russia and the US would instantly face an “uncontrollable conflict” with a nuclear World War III almost certain to break out, Ryabkov said.
The Navy Day parade was attended by the 71-year-old dictator and his Defense Minister Andrei Belousov, 65 last month.
Moscow claims to have discovered secret information this shows that the two men were being directly targeted by Ukrainian assassins.
No evidence has yet been shared about the circumstances surrounding Russian intelligence.
Respected Russian editor Alexei Venediktov also said that the Russians were worried about the noise of a Ukrainian conspiracy.
Just over two weeks before the event, Belousov took the intelligence directly to the US, claims well-known TV propagandist Olga Skabeev.
They say the defense minister called US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin to have a “genuinely difficult conversation” about belief in the assassination.
The TV presenter added: “Russian Defense Minister Andrei Belousov personally called the Pentagon for the first time and said something that made US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin squirm.
“If the Kiev operation had taken place, it would have guaranteed a fall Russia and the USA in a phase of uncontrollable conflict.”
Russian media say the Kremlin thought the US had prior knowledge of the alleged maneuver and feared it could be directly involved.
Pentagon officials have denied any involvement in or knowledge of any plot against Putin.
Despite this, Deputy Foreign Minister Ryabkov is adamant that the US will communicate with Ukraine to thwart any planned attacks.
The Navy Day parade took place without incident.
Ryabkov told Russian media: “We have avoided a new cycle of escalation. But this specific episode is very worrying.
“It was planned [by Ukraine]….to cause maximum damage and achieve the maximum media effect they needed.
“We have passed this particular episode, thank God, which means that the signal from our military leadership and the Minister of Defense to his American counterpart has apparently taken effect.”
If the Kiev operation had taken place, it would have guaranteed that Russia and the US would plunge into a phase of uncontrollable conflict.

Ryabkov declined to specify exactly what Russian intelligence had discovered about the alleged plot.
A frightening theory from Russian Telegram channel Win/Win is that an attack may have involved the launch of kamikaze maritime drones from a neutral ship in the Baltic.
So far, no comments have been made on the possible methods of such a plan.
Russian military expert Dmitry Kornev also suggested a possible attack method, saying: “Another possibility is a combined sea and air attack, which would be the most dangerous.
“Most likely, something was actually planned and did not happen.
“An assassination attempt, even if unsuccessful, would have provoked a very strong response.
“Burn all bridges to potential negotiations and normalize the conflict, putting an end to any aspirations for peace in this situation.”
It turns out that paranoid Putin now regularly wears bulletproof vests for public appearances, reports claim.
The Kremlin evidently fears that the aging despot could face an assassination attempt linked to his war in Ukraine or from Islamic terrorists.
The report claims the 71-year-old tyrant has been wearing armor at outdoor events “since at least 2023.”
According to one of his former guards, Putin lives in constant fear of being assassinated and does not trust his own employees.
Vitaly Brizhatiy was said to be a member of Putin’s security team at a previously undisclosed residence used by Vlad in Crimea.
Before his fraudulent re-election earlier this year, footage of Putin’s speech revealed telltale signs of his assassination fears amid rumors about his body double.
As Putin attended a meeting with supporters in Moscow, a bodyguard carrying an armored shield stood ready to take the stage and protect him.
The man – dressed all in black – is seen holding a briefcase which unfolds on the bulletproof shield.
