When Hurricane Debby made landfall in the Big Bend area of Florida on Monday morning and continued its journey across northern Florida, where it was downgraded to a tropical storm before moving into southeast Georgia, the storm dumped more of 4.5 inches of rain in Jacksonville, according to the National Weather Service in Jacksonville.
In Jacksonville, the storm pushed some water from the St. Johns River into historic downtown neighborhoods, where minor flooding is typical during big rains. At Memorial Park in Riversidethe water pushed temporary balustrades erected after restored balustrades were destroyed by Irma a year ago into the park.
JEA crews responded to the power outages, and as of Tuesday afternoon, only a few customers remained without power.
